My name is Daniel. I am from North Shewa, and I served in the military. For the last 17 years I had been addicted to cigarettes, drugs, and alcohol. One time I even finished 30 thousand birrs purchasing those very things. I spent my day using drugs and the night drinking. While I was living like this I was sent on a mission to a foreign country. And in there I started seeing sermon videos of Abba Yohannes Tesfamariam on the internet. When I finished my mission and came back home, I was still addicted, but also I started fighting my family and friends eventually becoming suicidal. One day the urge to kill myself won me over and I took an electric cable in my hands, stripped it, and placed it in my mouth. But right when I put it in my mouth Abba Yohannes came to me by the Grace of the holy spirit and said to me ‘’hold on son, I am with you, come to Wenkeshet monastery and you will be healed.” After that, the electricity just threw me over and did not hurt me. Then I came to Wenkeshet monastery, and I was baptized for a while. And when I returned to the city I was no longer addicted to my previous addictions, and I was at peace with my family and loved ones. And all the jobs I have done after I came to this monastery were successful. Today I feel like a have been born again, I have become a new man. Praise be to God.
